About the opportunity

Waypoint is seeking a part-time Grant Writer. This opportunity is a fit for you if you are creative, curious, and interested in being part of a small team and getting wide exposure to all things communications. This position works with Waypoint’s Marketing & Communications Coordinator. Waypoint is a social service organization providing a range of services to more than 9,000 individuals each year. The work crosses the lifespan from support for babies with developmental delays to youth experiencing homelessness to home care for seniors. As an intern with Waypoint, you will be able to make a difference by contributing your social media, graphic design, and marketing skills. This opportunity is a fit for you if you are creative, curious, and interested in being part of a small team and getting wide exposure to all things communications. This position is a part time flexible hybrid work schedule of up to 29 hours per week and may be based out of either the Manchester, NH or Dover, NH offices.

  • Write and prepare grants and grant reports assigned by the Grants Administrator and Director of Communications and Grants.
  • Help maintain a full calendar of grant-related deliverables with multiple weekly deadlines.
  • Create and submit proposals for event sponsorships.
  • Assist in preparing annual requests for towns or counties for local funding including helping to schedule Waypoint staff to attend important local budget hearings and town meetings as applicable.
  • Assist in maintaining information in online databases, Raiser’s Edge NXT and other resources.
  • Help write creative copies to support Waypoint communications efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant work experience; non-profit fundraising, grant writing, and/or marketing experience preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills include fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge preferable) and Office 365, with proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Organized and detail orientated.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respect clients from a variety of backgrounds and situations.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at one time and adhere to deadlines.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to respond to requests with a sense of urgency and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to apply basic computer skills.
  • Able to build effective relationships with foundation officers, community relations personnel, etc.
  • Successful criminal check; No history of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
