POSITION SUMMARY
STARTING SALARY $19.75 - $20.75 BASED ON EXPERIENCE
SCHEDULE MONDAY - FRIDAY, 7:30-4:30, 1 HOUR LUCH BREAK
The Facilities Team is responsible for providing preventative maintenance and repair to the Organization’s buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Team is responsible for proactively and efficiently maintaining the physical plant of Wayside Waifs and the maintenance of the 49-acre campus, which includes the main animal shelter, Pet Memorial Services, the Canine Behavior Center, and Courtesy Comfort Station. The Facilities Team also assists the Pet Memorial Services department with tasks as needed.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Lead Facilities Associate is responsible for all day-to-day Facilities duties as well as additional duties and leadership responsibilities, as described below.
PRIMARY TASKS AND DUTIES
- Perform minor repairs to Wayside Waifs’ plant and equipment including, but not limited to:
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- HVAC
- Filter changes and coil cleaning
- Scheduling and/or performing light automotive maintenance
- Gutter cleaning
- Interior wall repair and painting
- Repair and maintenance of electrical fixtures
- Ensuring that all sidewalks and paths are cleared of snow/ice as needed to ensure the safety of all staff, volunteers and members of the public
- Provide back-up assistance with custodial duties as needed
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes
- Assist Pet Memorial Services department including, but not limited to:
- Mowing grass and weed-eating
- Snow removal
- Digging/preparing pet gravesites
- Setting headstones
- General upkeep of the cemetery
- Transport of deceased pets from area veterinary clinics to Wayside Waifs for cremation
ADDIITONAL LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a resource and assist with training new Facilities associates.
- Following Facilities Manager directives, oversee and delegate tasks as necessary when the Facilities Manager is out of the shelter or unavailable.
- Perform routine inspections of building systems and equipment to identify potential issues proactively, to be shared with the Facilities Manager.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a self-starter, demonstrate initiative, common-sense application, and problem-solving skills
- Have the ability to work under pressure at times and have the ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Must possess a positive attitude and utilize good customer service and communication skills
- Must be flexible and available to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays if necessary
- Current driver's license and clean driving record required
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Comply with all Wayside Waifs policies
Physical /Environmental
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs. to waist height
- Be able to work with exposure to outside weather conditions
- Significant amount of kneeling and standing during a typical day
- Will frequently be exposed to animals, animal smells, animal waste and airborne particles
- Noise level is moderate to high
- Work is performed in an office/animal shelter setting
- Basic use of office equipment and computers required
Education/Experience
- Prior 3 – 5 years maintenance experience required
- High School degree or GED equivalent
