The Director of Adult Foster Care develops and supports the Adult Foster Care team to provide individuals and caregivers with the assistance needed to achieve the best living situation possible.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Coach and train staff (Hire, provide or arrange for training, and provide supervision and support to the AFC case managers and nurses)
- Oversee department functions, policies and procedures (Ensure that all MassHealth and other applicable regulations are met, visits are done and notes completed)
- Orientation and training of new caregivers (Provide information and training to newly qualified AFC caregivers, ensure that AFC caregivers are regularly trained and evaluated)
- Billing and financial (Oversee billing, budget preparation, and required program statistical and financial reports)
- Recruit new caregivers and referrals (Recruit and select caregivers for out of home placements and participate with DDS and Waystone Children and Family Services staff in facilitating individual referrals, placement and transfers)
OTHER DUTIES:
- Meet regularly with the AFC team to discuss administrative and clinical issues
- Connect with other AFC providers and related organizations
- Create contracts
- Monitor individual records to ensure compliance with MassHealth standards
- Conduct investigations of reportable incidents and complaints
- Develop and implement strategies to expand the AFC program. Through marketing and outreach, recruit additional caregivers as well as families and individuals needing AFC services.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a bachelors degree and a minimum of 5 years of health care experience working with elderly or disabled adults.
- At least one of those years must have been spent in an administrative role.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in leading and supervision.
- Ability to travel locally within the Merrimack Valley/Lowell area
- Ability to work extended/flexible hours to accommodate program needs and on-call support, meetings/trainings/audit preparation needs
- Valid drivers license in good standing with minimum of 1 year driving experience.
- Regular and predictable attendance
