What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Clerk position at WCIS, LLC?
General Description: This role is critical for operations at WCIS as they are responsible for receiving and offloading all incoming shipments and deliveries. This includes offloading semi-trucks of raw steel, pallets or skids of parts, and other various shipments from ground carriers. This position ensures all incoming shipments or deliveries are checked in a timely manner, matches the PO, and ensures merchandise is placed in the appropriate job totes or designated location in the yard. This individual helps support the yard organization and works with internal departments to locate material as needed. Coordinates with Operations to support shipping of equipment/machinery to job sites in the field and/or shipments directly to customers. Creates manifests for all outgoing shipments as well documenting all incoming shipments.
Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task and focus with constant distractions. Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail are a must. This position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including operating forklifts to offload (and load) material and/or equipment daily. Experience handling raw steel and processed steel is preferred (wide flange, channel, plate, including burn patterns and forming all in various lengths and sizes). Previous shipping and receiving experience a plus.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
I. Receiving of Merchandise:
A. Match packing slip with hard copy of PO.
B. Physically count and verify part numbers/dimensions ensuring material matches packing slip and PO.
C. Check for damage and ensure material meets quality standards.
D. Separate received materials, mark with correct job number and place in appropriate job tote or designated location in the yard.
E. Post received merchandise in the computer system.
F. Partner with Purchasing and Accounts Payable to investigate order discrepancies.
II. Shipping
A. Prepare small packages to be shipped, documenting items shipped and taking pictures of shipment contents.
B. Inputting shipping lists provided by Production into our manifest template for all outbound truck loads.
C. Verify all equipment/material shipping out and listed on manifest are all approved to ship and QC’s on file. Notify coordinating departments of any material not yet approved to ship (QC not on file).
D. Emailing all manifests (incoming & outgoing) and pictures to key departments within the organization upon their departure/arrival.
E. Shipping reporting and tracking of any outstanding equipment not yet shipped as requested by your supervisors and other departments.
Miscellaneous
A. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
B. Perform cycle counts regularly and support annual inventory counts as needed.
C. Maintain accurate department files.
D. Foster close working relationships with other departments within the organization.
E. Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
F. Perform all duties with courtesy, friendliness, and enthusiasm.

Work Environment:
Warehouse/Yard/Fab Shop: 40 hours per week with overtime hours as required, position includes working both inside and outside of a building. General working hours are 7:00AM – 4:30PM Monday through Friday. These hours and days may change based on work load and special events/meetings.
*Due to the nature of this position it is important that you show up on time and on a regular basis.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Must be able to stand 75% of the time, lift up to 75 lbs rarely, 50 lbs occasionally, and 35 lbs often. Bending, stooping, and walking up stairs is required. Must be able to type on a keyboard.
