Procedure for Wilsonville blocks:
Pre‐Trip forklift, fill out DVIR daily.
Pull out retaining pin from block eye (rebar), usually do this for a whole row at a time.
Depending on the type of block; release the side latches or pull the long pin on the forms. If it makes
it easier, also pull the hinge pins when possible.
Use the scraper tool/pry bar to separate the forms from the blocks ensuring proper clearance for
picking the blocks with the forklift.
Using the Forklift and Boom Attachment, hook the block and raise the forks and move the forklift to
gently rotate the block upright before lifting. Try to avoid swinging the blocks and making contact
with the forms and/or breaking corners.
Stack blocks into appropriate piles (#1, #2, corners and ½ blocks) neatly and orderly.
Scrape up small pieces out of center isle and off the steel plate; shovel into the roadway for
Loader/Skid steer to clean up. Clean up any spilled concrete as needed, removing any trip hazards.
Re‐assemble form and center on steel plate. Forms with hinge pins, the long pin does not always line
up. There is a large C‐clamp and hammer that helps with this to avoid manhandling the forms too
much. Forms with the clamps, ensure the corner tabs are properly aligned as the clamps are
tightened. If they are not ‘tabbed’ properly, the form will ‘bust open’ causing a mess when being
poured.
As needed, fabricate, and install the rebar eye into the form, securing it in place.
Apply form oil ensuring to hit all angles, nooks, and crannies (form oil makes cracking the forms a
much more manageable process).
Recheck all the forms, making sure they are properly assembled, and rebar eyes are in place.
Check your rebar supply. Ensure plenty of 1’ rebar sticks are available for partial block pours along
with 3’ lengths to bend for block eyes. While cutting rebar with chop saw, ensure PPE is used at ALL
times (eye pro, ear pro, gloves), provided as needed. Currently the chop saw has to be powered
through a series of extension cords that cross a well‐traveled portion of the block yard. Ensure the
cord is not needlessly crossing the road when not in use. Inspect the cords regularly and notify
supervisor of any replacement needs.
