Job Summary: The Compensation Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our compensation programs. This role ensures our pay structures are competitive, equitable, and aligned with business objectives while maintaining compliance with legal requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop, implement, and maintain compensation structures, including base pay, performance-based bonuses, incentives, differentials, and other variable compensation programs that align with our goals
Conduct market research and benchmarking analyses to ensure external market competitiveness
Oversee compensation survey participation and analyze data to make informed recommendations
Support the development of compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures
Manage compensation cycles, merit increases, and pay adjustments
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, pay transparency regulations, and EEO guidelines)
Monitor legislative changes that could impact the organization’s pay practices and provide guidance on necessary adjustments
Analyze and evaluate job roles to determine appropriate pay levels using job evaluation methods and collaborate with leadership to update to update position descriptions, document responsibilities and other job requirements
Evaluate new and existing roles to ensure proper FLSA classification, leveling, and alignment within the compensation structure
Prepare and present reports and forecasted budgets on compensation trends, workforce costs, and pay equity analyses
Collaborate with leadership to advise on competitive offers and special projects that attract, engage, and retain top talent
Provide guidance and training to leadership on compensation policies and best practices
Maintain HRIS configuration for compensation structures and use HRIS tools to streamline processes and generate reports
Conduct regular reviews of benefits structure, participate in benefits surveys, and benchmark total rewards components against market data to ensure attracting and retaining top talent is maintained
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership in all compensation-related matters
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
2 years of experience in compensation management
Strong understanding of compensation frameworks, job evaluation, and pay equity principles
Experience with compensation surveys, benchmarking tools, and HRIS platforms
Strong understanding of FLSA, EEO, pay transparency, and other compensation-related labor laws
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
Expert technical knowledge and analytical skills in the use of spreadsheets, specifically advanced Excel skills
Ability to work accurately, confidentially, and comfortably with various levels of personnel
Strong communication, consulting, and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or similar certification (SHRM, HRCI).
Experience in the Transportation Industry
