Summary
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for monitoring, coordinating and performing quality assurance, quality control and performance improvement activities to ensure regulatory and accrediting agency compliance as they pertain to internal standards, industry standards, and organizational goals. This role involves auditing, data submission, quality reviews, and presenting compliance reports. Such activities may include, but are not limited to, auditing referrals, organ and tissue charts, donation processes, and submission of UNOS Reporting Data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Complete and track UNET data submission to OPTN for Feedback, Deceased Donor Registration, and Potential Transplant Recipient information.
- Perform either Quality Review or Final Quality Disposition of records, investigations, reports, and summaries associated with Quality Events, EMRs, and Complaints.
- Conduct donor monthly record reviews for quality metrics established by the organization leadership.
- Document Control:
- Follow procedures and specifications governing the document control process, including document control procedure, document numbering specification, correspondence procedure, archiving specification, and other documentation defining the Document Control framework for controlled and uncontrolled documents.
- Reporting and Presentation:
- In collaboration with the Quality Systems Specialist, present compliance reports at the monthly Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee Meetings.
- Prepare and present, in collaboration with the Quality Systems Specialist, all monthly and year-to-date reports at the monthly Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee Meetings.
- Post-Survey and Inspection Monitoring:
- Develop and conduct all post-survey and inspection monitoring as outlined in the corrective action plan.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Develop complex reports/data comparisons using multiple internal and external databases.
- Auditing:
- Perform internal and external desk audits, assemble reports, and approve remediated actions.
- Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Intermediate:
- Associate's Degree.
- 2 years of experience.
- Experience in a healthcare or direct care setting, minimum required experience: 1 Year-LPN /EMT preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical/critical thinking skills, and problem-solving.
- Demonstrates advanced verbal and written skills, good organizational skills, and interpersonal skills including the ability to analyze data, manage time, prioritize, communicate effectively, and problem solve.
- Intermediate use of Microsoft Office Suite and comfortability with new computer software

- Expert:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5-10 years of experience.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of quality principles and practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical/critical thinking skills, and problem-solving.
- Demonstrates advanced verbal and written skills, good organizational skills, and interpersonal skills including the ability to analyze data, manage time, prioritize, communicate effectively, and problem solve.
