- This is a full-time job; days and hours can be flexible with 32 hours a week with one weekend day

Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management:
- Recruits, interviews, trains and supports volunteers; develops job descriptions
- Schedules assignments; monitors and provides feedback; maintains records; and recognizes volunteer contributions
- Organizes volunteer appreciation events and retention initiatives
- Maintains accurate records of volunteer participation and hours
- Acts as the main point of contact for volunteer inquiries
- Ensures volunteers follow shelter protocols and safety guidelines
- Works with the shelter team to identify areas where volunteers can provide support
Foster Program:
- Matches animals with foster parents
- Manages animal care
- Tracks inventory, and coordinates foster-related needs
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensures safe handling of animals; reads animal body language
- Adheres to regulatory compliance and maintain records; ensures compliance with laws and regulations related to volunteer work
General Duties:
- Provides excellent customer service
- Collaborates with staff
- Utilizes web-based tools for volunteer management
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Passion for animal welfare and volunteer engagement
- Experience with animals and a compassionate approach to their care
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit work, or related fields preferred
- Comfortable working with a diverse group of volunteers and shelter animals
- Strong oral and written communication skills; multitasking, and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Willingness to work flexible days and hours, including evening shifts, weekends and/or holidays
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Must be able to handle and lift animals and objects up to 30 pounds, and perform physical tasks
