Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Accounting and Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting various HR administrative functions, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and fostering a positive workplace culture. This position requires a strong understanding of financial concepts and practices, as well as the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
  • Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
  • Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal id numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
  • Ensures credit is received for outstanding memos.
  • Issues stop-payments or purchase order amendments.
  • Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances; preparing checks.
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
  • Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Maintains historical records by microfilming and filing documents.
  • Disburses petty cash by recording entry and verifying documentation.
  • Reports sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in payroll processing and maintain accurate records related to accounts payable.
  • Support financial auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Stay updated on changes in employment law and best practices in human resources.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field a plus
  • Previous accounts payable experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Accounting & HR Generalist or similar role is advantageous.
  • Strong financial acumen with knowledge of financial concepts such as debits, credits, tax regulations, corporate finance, and technical accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with wills, trusts, estate law, and financial statement preparation is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in HR software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Language Abilities

Must have a strong understanding of English to follow instructions and communicate with staff and guests. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

  • Must be able to use normal industry standard chemicals.
