RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform accurate and efficient smog inspections on a variety of vehicles according to state regulations
- Utilize state-approved smog inspection equipment and software
- Diagnose and repair vehicle emissions systems to pass smog inspections
- Maintain accurate and complete inspection records
- Adhere to all state and federal smog inspection regulations
- Perform thorough, efficient, timely and quality repair work
- Provide clear communication (both written and verbal) to service advisor with an estimate of any additional repairs, as needed.
- Maintain safety standards at all times and keep a safe, neat work area
- Stay current with evolving emissions regulations, technology, and diagnostic procedures
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, honesty and consistent appropriate behavior with co-workers, management and customers
- Test drive vehicle to assure quality completion of repair
- Perform other smog-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in automotive repair and diagnostics, with a focus on emission systems
- Valid State Smog Certification
- Proficient in troubleshooting and computer diagnosis
- Strong foundation of automotive technology
- Automotive technical training or certification from an accredited automotive technical school preferred
- ASE Certification a plus
- Dealership experience preferred
- Highline or European experience a plus
- Ability to drive Manual Transmission
- Must have Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
COMPENSATION:
The Smog Certified Diagnostic Technician Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Hourly Compensation of between $30.00 and $45.00. The position may also pay a production bonus based on individual or team performance that may range from $0.00 (if baseline benchmarks are not met) without any fixed upper limit.
