Responsibilities:
Community Education
- Provide presentations/workshops/trainings on consent/sexual assault, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships, dating/domestic violence, sexual harassment, bystander intervention, sex trafficking, WEAVE services and other related prevention education for schools, colleges, businesses and the community
- Coordinate and participate in awareness events and tabling events in the community
- Work with community partners to coordinate and conduct prevention education
- Conduct outreach activities with community
- Maintain effective working relationships with community partners
- Maintain a high degree of reliability and professionalism
- Document and record data in a timely manner, per agency guidelines
- Grant reporting, as needed
Prevention & Education Team
- Assist in training and mentoring of new P&E staff
- Assist with Peer Counselor Training and Continuing Education opportunities
- Assist with community outreach and tabling events
- Assist other educators and college campus advocates/educators with presentations/trainings
Advocacy
- Provide support, information and referrals to those who have been impacted by sexual assault/dating violence/domestic violence/sex trafficking
Other Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in agency all-staff meetings and continuing education in-service trainings
- Attend and participate in P&E department meetings
- Document services data in a timely manner, per agency guidelines
- Maintain accurate time sheets and other work-related documents, per agency guidelines
- Regular attendance
- Complete continuing education requirements annually
- Other duties as assigned
ADA Job Characteristics:
- Work environment is primarily indoors. Local travel (driving) will be required to conduct presentations at various area schools, attend off-site meetings, etc. Lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to open lower-level filing drawers, or to retrieve stored items, climb a ladder or stairs, or use an elevator. Sit frequently, and/or stand when filing, using copier, etc. Use fine manipulation (hands and wrist) to operate a keyboard, take notes, utilize desk calculator, file and copy documents. Corrected vision to normal range. Speak in normal vocal tone and range, and communicate clearly and concisely to others. Apply normal reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Prior experience providing health promotion or prevention education preferred
- Professional experience in domestic violence and sexual assault programs preferred
- Strong public speaking skills
- Experience working with unserved and underserved communities
- Committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work and learning environment
- Ability to work with school staff, community groups, faith groups, children/teens/adults in a professional manner
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule. Although regular work schedule is M-F, flexibility is required. P&E staff work some evenings or weekends, as needed, for community events and presentations
- High degree of professionalism
- Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour training and certification program (post-hiring requirement)
- Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
- Satisfactory results from DOJ background check and TB Test (post employment offer requirement)
