Job Summary
This position performs clerical and customer service duties in support of the operations of a community center.
Major Duties
- Answers telephones and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel.
- Signs in center visitors.
- Prepares monthly participation reports.
- Operates a personal computer to access pre-established programs to input or retrieve information.
- Generates reports, lists, or other information from data previously entered in a computer system.
- Receives and sorts incoming and outgoing mail.
- Coordinates special events as needed.
- Faxes correspondence makes copies, and runs office errands.
- Schedules meetings and activities.
- Assists with Kids Café and Kids Camp activities as assigned.
- Assists with Meals-on-Wheels activities as assigned.
- Assists with library operations as assigned.
- Assists in cleaning and maintaining community center facilities.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of community center policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.

Complexity/Scope of Work
- The work consists of related clerical and customer service duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide clerical and customer service support for community center operations. Successful performance contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of services to area residents.
Occasionally
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 10 pounds in all directions.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Driving a County vehicle or a personal vehicle for County business.
- Working in low temperatures.
- Working in high temperatures.
- Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Working in noisy environments.
- Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
- Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds.
Constantly
- Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

- Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Other Requirements/Information
- Must possess a valid and current driver's license.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required.
- This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
Valid Texas Driver’s License*
- If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver’s License must be obtained prior to employment.
