Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing clerical and customer service support for the operations of the District Clerk’s Office Jury Room.
Major Duties
- Greets jurors and collects juror summons.
- Scans, checks in, and organizes summons; inputs exemptions, disqualifications, and deferments.
- Prepares documents required by the qualifying judge.
- Prepares jury panels.
- Prepares certificates of donation and service.
- Updates juror information. Processes juror payments.
- Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
- Prepares documents for polling/selecting jurors.
- Prints juror summons.
- Completes affidavits for medical and physical disabilities.
- Prepares the courtroom for trials and other uses.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the District Clerk’s Office policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of modern office procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of courtroom procedures.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the provision of customer services.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Must have one experience.
- Must be able to type 35 wpm.

Complexity/Scope of Work
- The work consists of related customer service and clerical duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to participate in the provision of clerical and customer service support for jury room operations. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Occasionally
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
- Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 35 pounds in all directions.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.

- Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required.
- This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
- If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver’s License must be obtained prior to employment.
