Job Summary
This position performs specialized duties related to the department’s property tax operations.
Major Duties
- Prepares and processes annual statements for mailing.
- Ensures annual and timely WCAD monthly changes to tax roll; reviews all changes individually to ensure that values and exemptions are correct.
- Prepares and sends statements for WCAD changes to the tax roll.
- Prepares rollback taxes.
- Prepares refund requests.
- Prepares refund checks for Laredo Community College.
- Trains employees in system upgrades and in processing tax roll changes.
- Prepares delinquent tax statements.
- Completes a variety of forms for taxpayers.
- Processes property tax transactions.
- Provides information to the public as requested.
- Maintains accurate accounting of all cash and check transactions to properly balance cashbox.
- Processes motor vehicle registration renewals.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of the property tax code.
- Knowledge of motor vehicle registration laws.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of general work experience.
- Must be able to type 30 wpm.

Other Requirements/Information
- Must possess a valid and current Texas driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this job. Pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and criminal background checks are required.
- This position is covered by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies.
- If the applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver’s License must be obtained prior to employment.
