Job Summary/Basic Function
High School Dual Enrollment (HSDE) is a program that allows high school students to earn college-level credits while completing their high school credentials. Concurrent enrollment courses are taught at the high schools, with students paying $5 per credit hour. This allows students to access college-level courses at a significantly reduced rate where students can earn a credential and/or scholarships when graduating high school.
The Concurrent Enrollment Academic Advisor position is integral to serving the needs of constituents requesting assistance from the Dual Enrollment Advising Team. The team’s primary function is to provide academic advisement to high school students pursuing college credit and/or a credential in General Studies either as a Concurrent Enrollment or Early College student. The Concurrent Enrollment advisor will primarily work from the local high schools.
This is a three-year grant funded position.
This position will work with Dual Enrollment high school students within Davis School District. While WSU Davis will be the home base, the advisor will spend the majority of their day working within the local high schools. Academic advising appointments and presentations will primarily be conducted in assigned DSD high schools. Training and staff meetings will be primarily conducted at WSU Davis. Local travel is required.

Required Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- One year full-time college employment experience in academic advisement, registration, admissions, financial aid, student services, enrollment services, or equivalent in higher education and/or the K-12 system.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred:
- Strong verbal communication, written communication, listening, record keeping and information management skills.
- Ability to retain knowledge concerning university and department policies, think critically and make appropriate judgment calls pertaining to the application and communication of university and department policies.
- Ability to become a skilled user of Banner and other technological tools upon which WSU relies.
- Customer-service orientation, due to the importance of positive first impressions and positive subsequent contacts with a variety of internal and external constituents.
- Ability and willingness to work with colleagues and supervisor to build a work schedule that complements the work schedules of peers to assure that sufficient advising coverage is available. Standard hours of operation of the department are Mondays through Thursdays 8:00 to 5:00 and Fridays 8:00 to 4:30; periodic evening and weekend work may be required.
