Job Summary/Basic Function:
Weber State University is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Engineer to join our team, supporting data-driven decision-making across the University. This position plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the Universitys enterprise data warehouse and associated data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for leveraging data to solve complex business problems.As an Enterprise Data Engineer, you will work closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs, translate them into actionable data solutions, and ensure the data warehouse meets the evolving requirements of the University. - Working with stakeholders and programmers to understand the business needs and business rules for the data warehouse. These needs or rules may conflict with different university areas making standards hard to set and buy-in difficult.
- Establish data warehouse development standards. The data warehouse development tools allow for multiple methods to achieve results; Therefore, it is difficult to craft standards that not only fit the needs for today but also the needs for tomorrow.
- Estimating accurate time, scope, and cost estimates for submitted data warehouse projects. It takes years of experience developing data warehouses with specific tools and in-depth knowledge of the business and source data to provide these estimates. These estimates are critical for the portfolios when selecting and prioritizing projects and resources.
