Job Summary/Basic Function
The Office of Student Success Analytics (OSSA) seeks to hire a student worker to assist with business intelligence and ad-hoc reporting focused on the reporting needs of the institution. Projects will primarily include writing SQL queries for ad-hoc analyses and updating reports in Argos or Tableau. This position is ideal for undergraduate students interested in data analytics or computer science.
The position requires a minimum of 10 hours per week, up to a maximum of 20, depending on institutional need and student availability. The wage is $15/hr.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with OSSA and other on-campus partners to understand and fulfill users’ requests.
- Perform tasks related to business intelligence, such as writing queries, pulling data, and updating reports.
- Complete one project each semester related to the employee’s interests and the needs of the analytics office.
- Create and complete a learning contract with the supervisor outlining professional goals to provide a meaningful work experience.
- Learn to effectively use new software and tools as needed.
- Write SQL queries (completion of CS 2550 or equivalent experience required).
- Adhere to government regulations and university standards surrounding the usage and sharing of personal and sensitive data.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Weber State student enrolled in at least 12 credits during Fall and Spring semesters.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
- Must have a term GPA of at least 2.0.
Preferred Qualifications
- SQL query writing experience.
- Enrolled in at least 6 credits during the Summer semester.
- Familiarity with Tableau, Argos, or other data visualization tools is a plus.
- Interest in data analytics or computer science fields.
- Undergraduate student.
