Job Summary/Basic Function
The Events Manager oversees the planning, preparation, and execution of special events for the University, President’s Office, and division of University Advancement. Specific events include spring and fall commencement exercises, Lindquist Summer Pops Concert, President’s office events, ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, donor-related and stewardship events, legislative events, VIP dinners and luncheons and Hill Air Force Base events. Additionally, Weber State will be launching the public phase of its fundraising campaign in Fall 2025, which will entail an initial large, upscale event, followed by smaller regional events.
With exceptional attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and a flair for entertaining, the Events Manager oversees multiple aspects including event budgets, catering, venue coordination, logistics, technology needs, entertainment, and decorating. The Events Manager works collaboratively with faculty, staff and students across the University. The Events Manager requires high-level critical thinking, advanced problem-solving, the ability to multitask and to relate to various constituents. The ability to work independently but also within a team environment is required.
The Events Manager reports to the Vice President of University Advancement. This position requires evening and weekend work.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of four years experience planning, executing, and managing large and small-scale events in a professional setting.

- Experience organizing events at a college or university
- Highly organized and process oriented
- Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills to act as an ambassador of goodwill for event guests across the university and with external partners
- Ability to organize logistics, details, preparations, and execution of multiple events in varying stages of development.
- Experience managing event finances and executing events within established budgetary parameters.
- Established or ability to establish positive working relationships with internal and external partners
- Customer Service focus
- Attention to detail
- Creativity and the ability to execute events in a way that uniquely connects the audience and advances the goals of the event and the university.
- Demonstrated capacity to resolve problems with vendors, departments, or event guests.
