WEC Energy Group seeks a skilled Hydro Maintenance Mechanic to ensure continuous generation availability and regulatory compliance at our Western Hydro sites in Merrill, Wisconsin.
Job Summary
A Hydro Maintenance Mechanic assists in operating, inspecting and maintaining hydro turbines, generators, buildings and grounds, dams and auxiliary equipment. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring safe work methods
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment
- Operating hydro-electric facilities safely and efficiently
- Maintaining plant systems, equipment, and surrounding area in clean, safe and efficient condition
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment
- Participate in major overhauls of turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment
- Assist in installing changes to plant equipment
- Maintain hydro turbine and plant buildings and grounds in clean, safe condition
- Perform required maintenance on dams and dikes
- Participate in training programs to advance knowledge and skill level
- Assist and work with vendors and contractors in installation and repair of equipment and systems
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3 years industrial mechanical maintenance experience as a mechanic
- Valid Driver's License
- Valid CDL or ability to obtain one within 18 months
- Must be able to obtain forklift and lift truck certification

Work Hours and Travel
Work hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm
Daily travel to Western Hydro sites is required, generally inside of regular working hours
