Position Summary:
The Technical Director reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the operations of the technical department and the success of all company initiatives that require collaboration across departments. They must understand that we are a customer service driven company and the best way to look after the interests of our team members is to look after the interests of our customers first. The Technical Manager will work with the company’s Leadership Team to guide the company’s overall success.
The Technical Director must have excellent management skills including problem solving, communication, leadership, time management and team building. Every task contributes toward the overall goal of providing a great service, in a timely and cost effective manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and direct the technical department to meet and exceed customer service requirements for new and existing customers
- Participate in the planning, development and execution of strategy for the future development of the department
- Develop and implement programs and training necessary to ensure that all Technicians are aligned with the goals of the department
- Lead and manage branch managers and their teams of technicians.
- Manage and enforce all company policies and procedures, as well as Health and Safety policies
- Manage the technical department’s budgets, finances and resources
- Prepare reports on a regular basis for review with the leadership team
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required to meet the goals of the company
Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience in lawn care or golf course management
- Excellent time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Good knowledge of MS Office
- 3 years experience in a supervisory or management position in a related industry
- Post secondary education
- Strong technical knowledge
- Customer service oriented
- Valid pesticide applicators license, or willing to obtain one
- Strong transformational leadership capacity
- Valid driver’s license
