Perform Network Engineering support including, but not limited to:
- Upgrading and configuring fiber network equipment
- Verify connectivity and throughput
- Set deployment/cutover schedule and plan for upgrading campus wide fiber network upgrades within a tight deadline. All work must be completed by June 30, 2025
- Upgrade and deploy network infrastructure including fiber, switches, routers, wireless access points, and other communications hardware
- Ensure post deployment connectivity including adds/moves/changes/cut-overs
- Provisioning services following configuration templates
- Assist the Director of Network Architect with Architecture changes and evolution
- Participate in Internal Network Design Review sessions with the Directors of Network Services and Network Architect
- Troubleshoot Network Architecture issues after add, moves, upgrades, and cut-overs
- Verify and document network before and after upgrades
- Compose and Prepare network documentation standards and reports with the Director of Network Architecture
- Scripting with PHP, Python, Perl, and others
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 4-5 years professional experience in similar or related work.
- Experience with Fiber Optic, Ethernet, wireless Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking.
- Experience with network hardware, cabling, and network management software including experience in network troubleshooting.
- This role will require after-hour configuration, deployment, and cut-overs minimum 1 day per week.
- This role can be onsite or hybrid (preferred).
- Experience with Juniper Networks and Aruba Networks CLI programing
- Experience with VXLAN and EVPN
- Experience with Juniper Networks and Aruba Networks equipment is preferable.
- Familiarity with WPI's campus a strong plus
- Experience with computer programming and scripting languages.
- Preferred technologies include PHP, Python, PowerShell, SQL, JSON, and REST based API.
- Experience with Linux systems administration.
- Ability to communicate clearly with all network users.
