This is a temporary position (18 months) supporting the launch of our new apprenticeship program. To be a mentor, you must have completed or be completing the advanced mentor train the trainer courses. The Apprentice Mentor is responsible for developing and evaluating Apprentice employees in the Fabrication Department. This role ensures that the Apprentices acquire the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to perform their job duties effectively and safely. It focuses on fostering a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

How you’ll make an impact…
Training Program Development:
- Provide input to design and implement comprehensive training programs tailored Flex Operator I Apprentice role.
- Partner with Fabrication Manager, Supervisors and Operations Training Supervisor to develop training materials, including manuals, work instructions, presentations, and videos, in collaboration with subject matter experts.
- Update training content to align with new technologies, process improvements, and industry regulations.
- Uphold company values during training and mentoring process. Serve as role model for professionalism and workplace conduct.
- Conduct hands-on training to new or incumbent employees enrolled in the Apprentice Program.
- Demonstrate proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment.
- Teach workplace safety protocols, quality standards, and best practices.
- Assess Apprentice trainees’ performance during and after training sessions to ensure they meet competency requirements.
- Coach and mentor Apprentices based on company’s established training program.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for improvement to trainees and supervisors.
- Complete required documentation, including progress reports and evaluations. Maintain records of training attendance.
- Identify skill gaps and training needs through observation, feedback, and collaboration with production supervisors, Operations Training Supervisor & HR.
- Propose and implement enhancements to training methods and materials.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to keep training programs relevant.
- Ensure training programs comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Reinforce a culture of safety by teaching and modeling safe work practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of Train the Trainer program and must obtain certification
- Mentor Certification— may also consider Experience and Competency in Leading in Manufacturing/Mentor Skills (leading, instructing and improving).
- Experience/Competency in the following areas (Cylinder, Cylinder Windings, and Milling)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with hands-on experience operating machinery or equipment.
- Technical proficiency with manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety, quality assurance (ISO 9000 preferred) and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO standards).
- Proficiency in creating training materials using tools like PowerPoint, Word, or learning management systems (LMS).
- Strong communicator with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Patient, adaptable, and organized, with excellent time management and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
