Controller
Weigel Broadcasting Co is looking for a motivated and skilled accounting professional to join a lean corporate Finance team in a small privately held organization at our corporate office in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate should have six to eight years of experience with a deep understanding of accounting principles, a hands-on approach, and excellent analytical skills.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA desired
Prior experience with ERP Application, such as MS-Dynamics or Acumatica
Familiar with Multiple Entity and Intercompany Accounting Processes
Able to leverage Excel for in-depth analysis of all system and sub-system data
Able to work independently and collaboratively
Experience in media desired
Responsibilities:
Oversight of the General Ledger and active participant in all month/quarter/year-end closing activities (journal entries, reconciliations, reporting)
Own the process for recording monthly revenue in the General Ledger
Responsible for Balance Sheet reconciliations and the assessment of subledger/subsystem data
Research and analyze technical accounting matters to support the appropriate accounting treatment for financial transactions, the development of financial controls, and the preservation of critical information
Collaborate with the Director of FP&A to ensure financial statements are accurate, to facilitate budgets/estimates, and to provide guidance to A/P and A/R
Monitor all transactions in the General Ledger to ensure accuracy of fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reporting, depreciation/amortization, and liabilities
Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with GAAP
Continuously review accounting processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness, while maintaining internal controls
Develop a solid understanding of all accounting activities to be able to back up other members in the Finance team

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $125,000-200,000 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
