Weigel's Stores Inc. is seeking a talented and motivated Financial Accountant to join our team in Powell, TN. We are a family-owned company that operates convenience stores, a bakery and dairy in East Tennessee. This position is held accountable for Wowing our guests with a positive experience playing a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the Company. This position will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting decision-making processes within the organization.
2. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide regular variance analysis reports.
4. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes. Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
5. General Ledger Management: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
6. Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
7. Audit Support: Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits. Prepare audit schedules and respond to audit inquiries.
8. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support business decisions. Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance.
9. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
Employment Standards:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proven experience (3 years) in accounting, finance, or related roles, preferably within the retail or convenience store industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and auditing standards.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• This is a full-time position Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with an occasional Saturday.
