Engineer - Testing and Evaluation Weir Marine Engineering LaSalle, Montreal, Quebec Hybrid Purpose of Role: To provide technical assistance to senior project leaders and engineers, in activities related to performance testing, evaluations, or maintenance, to support the Royal Canadian Navy’s (RCN) fleet of surface ships and submarines. Candidate must have the following in order to obtain a government security clearance required for the position: 1. Canadian Citizenship 2. Key Responsibilities: Conducting technical investigations on various systems, equipment, or components installed or to be installed onboard a RCN ship or submarine; Performing validation, tests, simulations, integrations, or troubleshooting of equipment, systems or components; Conducting tests and trials on board a ship or submarine, if needed; Reviewing technical documentation related to components, equipment and systems; Producing draft technical documentation or reports; Preparing plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings or other routine technical surveys or inspections; and Ongoing communication and interactions with colleagues, and internal stakeholders. Exposure to a shop environment; and possible requirement to travel, on occasion, to perform surveys, testing and evaluations on board a ship or submarine. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree combined with up to 3 years of practical work experience (consideration will be given to candidates with other engineering degrees and demonstrated experience in the mechanical engineering field); Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Familiarity with Microsoft Project; Proficient with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, primarily Solidworks; Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Specifically, capable of reading and interpreting technical specifications, customer, industry and business publications, writing technical reports targeted at colleagues, senior management, or customers, French would be an asset; What we offer you: Weir Marine Engineering (WME) has managed the Naval Engineering Test Establishment (NETE) on behalf of the Government of Canada since 1953.
