Job Description Summary
The Fire Specialist is a highly skilled and motivated professional that will play a critical role in analyzing data, evaluating performance metrics, and providing actionable insights to improve all facets of processing and dispatching calls for service within the fire discipline. The Fire Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Learning & Development, and Administration to develop strategies for enhancing operational efficiency to meet key performance indicators for the organization thereby ensuring the highest level of customer service and care is provided to our citizens and responders.

Job Description
Quality Assurance Processes, Protocol Handling, and Analysis - 60%
- Acts as the EFD and Fire subject matter expert.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to emergency fire dispatch, including protocol usage, compliance to standards, and resource utilization.
- Identifies trends, patterns, and areas for improvement based on data analysis.
- Conducts regular audits and reviews to assess compliance with established standards, protocols, and directives.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing overall performance of emergency fire dispatch operations.
- Supports the development and implementation of a radio quality assurance program for fire dispatch.
- Trains and provides oversight of EFD/Fire-Qs.
Research, Reporting, and Process Improvement - 40%
- Prepare comprehensive reports for the leadership team on quality assurance findings, highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations for improvement.
- Conducts research and remain up to date on industry best practices, protocol development, emerging technologies, and requirements in the field of fire dispatching and fire protocols.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the fire dispatch system.
- Participates in EFD and Fire policy review. Recommends revisions to existing policies and the development of new policies.
- Participates in meetings and committees as needed to share information, address concerns, and implement changes.
- Assists in the development and implementation of education related to the quality assurance process.

Required Qualifications
Required Education:
- Education Level: High School Diploma/GED
Required Work Experience:
- 2 years or more of experience in a 9-1-1 emergency communications center.
Preferred Work Experience:
- 1 or more years of experience in a quality assurance focused role.
- 1 or more years of experience with the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) protocols.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- For internal candidates, a minimum rating of “pass” or “meets standards” in every category of the most recent performance evaluation and signed off the Law, Clearance, and Call Processing phases of training.

- Knowledge of modern public safety communications principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment, including WCRCC directives. High
Licenses and Certifications:
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State and maintain for the duration of employment.
- Obtain IAED EFD and ED-Q Certification within 6 month of hire and maintain for the duration of employment.
- Obtain Emergency Number Professional (ENP) Certification within 12 months of qualifying and maintain for the duration of employment.
This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
