POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for organizing and maintaining a current inventory of standards, reagents, reference samples and retained raw material samples. Supports laboratory staff by maintaining glassware and helping with special projects. This position reports to QC Laboratory Operation Supervisor.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Logging QC Lab samples, reagents, reference samples and updating appropriate spreadsheets.
• Receiving, organizing and storing all chemical substances according to safety instructions.
• Sending out samples that need to be tested by third party labs.
• Keeping laboratory area and inventory neat and tidy.
• Maintaining glassware by picking - up and washing.
• Performing basic testing (pH, LOD, water testing, refractive index, water activity, gluten, organoleptic testing).
• Calibrating laboratory equipment (pH-meters, balances).
• Collecting water samples from multiple locations for microbiological testing.
• Collecting environmental swabs for microbiological testing.
• Coordinating retest of expired or about-to-be-expired raw materials by updating appropriate spreadsheet and pulling out reserve samples.
• Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), safety, company rules, SOPs, and policies.
• Miscellaneous duties, as directed by QC Laboratory Operations Manager and/or QC Supervisor.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / WORK EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
• Minimum of high school diploma or associate degree.
• Knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel.
• Well organized and detail oriented.
• Communication skills – verbal and written.
• Time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
• Teamwork.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Work environment: Analytical laboratory, exposure to hazardous chemicals and chemical waste.
• Physical demands: Sufficient physical ability to stand, walk and perform moderate lifting.
Salary : $18 - $19
