POSITION: Clinical Supervisor

The Clinical Director at The Wellness and Resilience Center must be a visionary and compassionate leader dedicated to advancing the well-being of children and their families. The Clinical Director will play a critical role in driving the mission forward—creating a nurturing, high-impact space where children and families can heal, grow, and succeed.

Job Summary:

Supervises staff. Conducts mental health assessments, develops treatment plans and provides supportive therapeutic services to children, adolescents, parents/caregivers and families.

Directs the day-to-day operations of clinical services and implements programmatic administrative policies and procedures to attain program goals and objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises staff with LSW (licensed social workers), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISWs), QMHS/CDS (qualified mental health specialist/child development specialist), LPCs and other licensed clinicians and students and/or Administrative Support Staff as assigned

Director Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the delivery and quality of services provided by licensed clinical staff, as well as case managers and paraprofessional staff as assigned.
  • Conduct initial in-depth assessment by interviewing client, assessing medical, psychological, emotional and social strengths and needs.
  • Develop Individual Treatment Plans that include the mental health and/or addiction services and supports needed by the client, mutually-developed treatment goals and objectives, treatment services and discharge plan.
  • Supervise licensed social workers and QMHS staff; provide training and coaching on providing mental health therapy and delivering CPST, therapeutic behavioral services (TBS), case management, prevention and other services as needed; review and sign off on all progress notes
  • Provide and/or Supervise staff providing on-going mental health therapy based on cognitive behavioral therapy and other evidence-based therapies and methodologies to children and adolescents, and to a lesser extent to adults.
  • Provide and/or Supervise staff providing group counseling and/or facilitate psycho-social groups based on established principles and methodologies.
  • Document clinical progress notes clearly and thoroughly in the electronic health record within agency timelines; Conduct quality reviews of patient charts
  • Fully participate in the Leadership Team and lead the multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • Develop and implement procedures and practices to attain program goals and objectives of the behavioral health programs and services. Make programmatic and administrative recommendations to the CEO to further the agency goals.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely documentation of services delivered in the electronic health record per established agency timeframe. Work with the CEO and billing staff/contractor as needed to ensure that documentation is optimizing revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor productivity of staff. Recommend and implement practices to improve and optimize productivity while maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide clear expectations, direction, coaching and timely performance evaluations for supervisees. Hold staff accountable for the quality and quantity of services provided, and deliver progressive corrective action to individual staff in consultation with the Human Resources Manager as needed.
  • Meet the agency’s productivity requirements of the position.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other staff members, including psychologist, advanced practice nurses, RNs, QMHS/CDS staff and other team members to ensure high-quality treatment and coordination.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement activities with the CEO, as well as preparations for accreditation, certification and/or licensing activities and site visits.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulations as well as service contracts with health plans and other entities.
  • Coordinate with Human Resource Manager to recruit, select, onboard and train staff.
  • Assign staff members appropriate work schedules to ensure that the agency services are meeting the needs of clients.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other agency leaders, as well as outside agencies involved with agency clients, to ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services.
  • Ensure that licensed staff maintain required credentials and training and continue to expand their knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Adhere to Wellness and Resilience Center policies and procedures and professional code of ethics to one’s professional (e.g. NASW, NBCC, ACA) Code of Ethics and maintain professionalism at all times.
  • Maintain client confidence and confidentiality per agency policy and federal law in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and US Dept of HHS 42 CFR Part 2 Revised Rule for the treatment of substance use disorders.
  • Champion the Mission and Model the values of the agency

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong clinical skills, knowledge and experience with a range of therapeutic approaches and modalities.
  • Demonstrated capacity for emotional resilience, self-awareness, and stress management in high-demand environments.
  • Exemplifies strong self-regulation skills, including the ability to model emotional intelligence and healthy coping strategies in a leadership role.
  • Ability to maintain professional composure, sound judgment, and effective leadership while managing complex clinical and administrative responsibilities
  • Ability to manage time, multi-task and work independently to implement programs and services.
  • Skills in supervising, training, professional development, evaluating, and managing staff of clinical professionals and paraprofessionals.
  • Familiarity with community support systems, health care and human service resources.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.

  • Ability to work as part of a comprehensive behavioral health team and to represent the agency in the community.
  • Maintain all licensure, continuing education and training requirements.

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years of experience in a mental health leadership role with direct supervision of licensed clinicians and/or case managers
  • Masters in social work or related field
  • Unencumbered Ohio license; Independently licensed in social work or counseling (e.g. LISW, LPCC) with supervisory designation preferred.
  • Must have sensitivity to cultural differences, and a demonstrated competence in working with persons of color, of various faith, ethnic, nationality and economic backgrounds and the LGBTQ community.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and periods of alternately sitting, standing and bending while assessing patients.
  • May travel by car in community to see clients in other school locations to observe clinicians delivering services.
