Location : Onsite at main location in Hinsdale and assigned partner locations
Summary of Position
The Support and Counseling Manager (SCM) is responsible for scheduling, supervising, and delivering oncology support and counseling programs for Wellness House at the main location in Hinsdale, online and at partner locations. As directed by the Associate Director of Programs (ADOP), the SCM supports program staff in meeting program and organization goals and ensures that Wellness House resources such as program staff time, facility space, and supplies are utilized efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the SCM works with the program directors and managers to increase awareness and connect participants through the Community Engagement Process and Participant Engagement Process (PEP).
RESPONSIBILITIES (100% Program Responsibilities)
Managerial (30 - 40%)
General Management
- Model for staff and actively contribute to a healthy, stimulating, productive work environment where all constituents can "feel better inside."
- Provide supervision, management, and support for direct reports. Conduct performance appraisals, promptly communicate feedback, and ensure direct reports are properly trained and informed of Wellness House policies and procedures. Track and facilitate professional development goals and opportunities for direct reports.
- With HR and Volunteer Manager, recruit, interview, and recommend new contractual staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Contribute to the quarterly program guide production and coordinate with the marketing team to ensure appropriate marketing of assigned participant and professional events.
- As needed and requested by the Director of Programs (DOP) and Associate Director of Programs (ADOP), develop program policies, procedures, and guidelines, contribute to reports, and participate in program evaluation.
- Report to the Office Manager and ADOP any observations of malfunction or inadequacy of the Wellness House facility that would compromise the safety of staff and participants or negatively impact the delivery of Wellness House programs.
Support Groups & Counseling and Child & Family Management
Understand support and counseling program goals as part of the annual program plan, monitor key performance indicators related to those program areas, prepare monthly and quarterly tracking as directed by the ADOP.With ADOP, develop quarterly Support Group & Counseling and Child & Family schedules. Coordinate with staff, contractual staff and volunteers. Schedule programs, reserve rooms, and write descriptions.With ADOP, update, develop, and manage support and counseling processes, guidelines, and procedures.Create, coordinate, and maintain systems for support and counseling participant engagement, including paperwork, registration, consultation / assessment, attendance, and outreach. Oversee recording of all direct and indirect service efforts into the database.Organize and lead support and counseling team meetings.Oversee support and counseling operations at all locations and online. Ensure programs have adequate resources and supplies.Monitor the Support Groups & Counseling and Child & Family program budgets. Approve contractual staff invoices and expenses as directed by ADOP.With program directors and managers, develop quarterly support and counseling program plans for all partner and collaborator sites and ensure the implementation of all programming.Identify innovative support and counseling programs for participants of all ages at all locations.Identify speakers for assigned participant and professional programs and events based on trends in psychosocial oncology, participant and staff feedback, professional literature, professional goals, and organization commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) and cancer health equity.Volunteer Management
Actively recruit and onboard support and counseling program volunteers with support from the HR and Volunteer Manager.Regularly review and update support and counseling volunteer onboarding and training and consistently communicate with program volunteers to inform them of Wellness House policies and procedures. Supervise and support program volunteers.Assist with the tracking of volunteer statistics and data collection.Direct Work with Participants (40 - 50%)
Serve as a group facilitator for support, connections, and bereavement groups for individuals impacted by cancer at Wellness House, partner locations, and online, including planning and preparation for groups and appropriate participant follow-up.Support PEP with regular weekly PEP shifts and provide backup coverage for PEP and front desk shifts as assigned by ADOP.As part of the PEP, conduct participant consults to identify suitable programs for participation at Wellness House and provide support for cancer-related transitions.Assist new participants in identifying goals for participation in Wellness House and follow up with participants at appropriate intervals to monitor progress and provide resources and assistance as needed.Provide short-term individual counseling as needed.Identify outside referral sources when needed and make appropriate referrals.Create and deliver oncology support presentations for the Information and Education program two to four times a year.Program Outreach and Program Support (10%)
Identify, establish, and maintain strategic and collaborative relationships with hospitals, physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, etc., to increase referrals.Provide education on psychosocial support and Wellness House to increase utilization.Collaborate with marketing, ADOP, and program managers to ensure all medical partners and collaborators have Wellness House materials appropriate to the setting, including ongoing communications such as flyers, guides, and event materials.Participate in outreach through speaking engagements and other identified activities; cultivate collaborative relationships that result in greater awareness of and increased referrals to WH.Contribute to grant applications as assigned by ADOP and ensure appropriate data is collected to meet grant requirements.Serve as a liaison or participate in civic or development activities as assigned by the Directors.Maintain and contribute to resource database for participant resourcesParticipate in other reporting or program activities as directedServe as the liaison for universities seeking internships for their exercise students. Supervise the daily work, training, and scheduling of department interns.Other (5%)

Requirements :
Education : Master's degree or higher in psychology, social work, or related field; must be licensed as LCSW, LCPC, or Psy.D
Job Experience :
Minimum five years professional experience; including 2 years management experience with staff supervisionPast clinical experience with an adult population, preferable experience with chronic illnessExperience with program design, implementation, and evaluation preferred,Special Knowledge & Skills :

Estimated hiring range : $70,000 - $77,000 per year
Final offers are based upon qualifications, years of experience, and internal equity considerations and may or may not fall within the estimated hiring range.
