Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and accounting functions for WellSpace Health and its related entities. This position manages complex tasks including grant billing, fixed asset management, lease accounting, and financial reporting in alignment with GAAP and FQHC regulations. The Senior Accountant will work closely with program managers and grant coordinators to support budget forecasting, track spending, and ensure compliance across multiple funding sources.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 5 years of experience in similar role required, with at least 3 years in a non-profit and/or healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, or similar), and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with various departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Must be a quicker learner, and flexible to thrive in a team setting or independently.

- Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.

- Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
- Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare and record journal entries including lease accounting, patient revenue and adjustments as needed for WellSpace Health and related entities.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Manage fixed assets, ensuring accurate capitalization, depreciation, and leading the annual physical inventory process.
- Track, report, and bill multiple grants and funding sources, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., 330 grants, HRSA, Medicaid/Medicare, etc.).
- Prepare and submit cost and financial reports for funders and governmental agencies.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring all reporting is accurate, timely, and complies with GAAP and accounting standards.
- Support the development and monitoring of grant and annual budgets, ensuring proper allocation and compliance with funding guidelines.
- Monitor actual spending against budgets and provide variance analysis to management.
- Assist with audit preparations, including documentation gathering and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, FQHC regulations, and policies to mitigate financial risk.
- Collaborate with accounting colleagues, program managers, and grant coordinators to support budget forecasting for new and renewal grant funding and resolve discrepancies or compliance issues.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with other departmental tasks as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The work environment is characteristic of a medical clinic environment. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee may also be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, urine) and hazardous chemicals.
