General Summary
Manages integration initiatives at local, enterprise and regional levels. Leads the strategy, execution, and governance of integration initiatives across the healthcare system. Manages a team of integration specialists, oversees integration architecture, and drives innovation in healthcare interoperability. Ensures seamless interoperability between Epic electronic health records (EHR) and Oracle ERP systems, as well as other enterprise applications. Designs and optimizes automation architectures for on-premises as well as infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) component, automating delivery and management tasks, provisioning and configuration management, and other aspects involved in preparing and optimizing automated delivery solutions. Reviews integration project requests and coordinates schedules and related departmental activities. Provides overall direction and guidance to assigned project managers. Assigns personnel to various projects and directs, reviews and evaluates their activities. Prepares activity and progress reports regarding integration systems analysis and programming sections.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Develops and implements the enterprise integration strategy to support clinical, financial, and operational initiatives. Align integration roadmaps with organizational goals.
- Oversees the design, development, and maintenance of integrations between Epic EHR and Oracle ERP, ensuring data consistency, security, and performance.
- Ensures seamless data exchange across clinical, financial, and operational systems using HL7, FHIR, APIs, Web Services, and other integration technologies.
- Establishes best practices, policies, and governance frameworks for enterprise integration. Ensures compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare regulations.
- Provides oversight on integration architecture, middleware platforms (e.g., Cloverleaf, Mirth, Rhapsody, Ensemble), and cloud-based integration tools.
- Designs and implements automation solutions for integrating workloads across IaaS and PaaS components. Optimizes automated delivery pipelines, including provisioning, configuration management, and self-service automation.
- Utilizes DevOps and Agile methodologies when creating integrations and associated automation processes. Ensures continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) best practices are implemented to improve system efficiency and deployment cycles.
- Manages Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) services throughout the System.
- Plans, organizes, and directs activities in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
- Uses integration tools and methods to provide information in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Ensures integrity, authenticity and usefulness of data.
- Manages and secures audits and controls for, and incorporates monitoring of data moving from application to application within the enterprise and affiliated entities.
- Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods.
Common Expectations:
- Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing team of integration specialists and architects. Manages relationships with operational teams, contractors, Epic, Oracle, and third-party vendors to ensure optimal performance.
- Continuously evaluates and improves integration processes, leveraging automation and emerging technologies to enhance system efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Develops and implements incident response plans for integration-related issues. Ensures high availability and reliability of mission-critical data interfaces.
- Partners with IT, clinical, financial, and operational leaders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable integration solutions. Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed).
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Bachelors Degree Required
Work Experience:
- 10 years Experience in enterprise integration services, IT architecture, or interoperability, and 5 years in an IT leadership role Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive experience with Epic EHR integration, including Bridges, APIs, FHIR, HL7, and Chronicles data management
- Expertise in Oracle ERP (Cloud or On-Premises) integration, including Oracle Fusion Middleware, Web Services, and API management
- Proficiency with integration engines (e.g., Cloverleaf, Mirth, Rhapsody, or Ensemble) and enterprise service bus (ESB) architectures
- Proven ability to manage large-scale integration projects and drive digital transformation initiatives
- Strong leadership, project management, and stakeholder communication skills
- Expertise in DevOps and Agile methodologies, including experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automated deployment processes
- Expertise in automation architecture, including IaaS and PaaS automation, infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and self-service automation solution
- Experience with cloud-based integration solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, MuleSoft, Boomi, or Informatica)
- Experience with ServiceNow Integration Hub or similar ITSM platforms
- Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in healthcare data integration
