Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Nurse Practitioner in Anesthesia provides high-quality patient care during medical procedures by administering anesthetic agents according to established standards and regulations.
- Develops an anesthesia management plan in collaboration with the anesthesiologist, taking into account factors such as patient medical history, treatment options, and potential risks.
- Administers anesthetic agents, calculating doses and monitoring parameters to ensure safe and effective treatment.
- Maintains accurate patient documentation, including medical history, treatment plans, and outcomes.
- Responds to emergencies, establishing and maintaining patient airways via intubation and documenting treatment rendered.
- Transports patients from the surgery area to the post-anesthesia recovery area, reporting patient status to physicians and nursing staff.
- Provides airway management training to residents, students, and other staff.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in a related field is required.
- At least one year of relevant experience is mandatory.
- A License as a Registered Nurse (R.N.), Multi-State License, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (C.R.N.A.) upon hire is essential.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nurse anesthesia and completion of continuing education requirements are necessary for certification maintenance.
