General Summary
Provides administrative and operational oversight for all WellSpan York Hospital (WYH) Peri-Operative Services to include, Operating Rooms, PACU, Central Sterile Processing, GI labs, Pain Management, Robotics and Short-Stay Unit. Provides clinical direction and management of activities related to the care management of assigned patient population, including clinical policy development and implementation, clinical data management and reporting, achieving clinical outcomes, improving cost effectiveness, and interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination in the management of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides administrative and operational support for strategic growth plans related to Peri-operative Services.
- Oversees programmatic components listed in general summary and ensures adherence to accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Prepares annual capital and operating budgets and monitors variable costs
- Engaged in the design/build of a new Surgical and Critical Care Tower
- Active participant in the WSH and WYH Surgical Governance Committees.
- Monitors departmental activities and reports on quality statistical data,
- Assists in and collaborates with marketing to develop and implement marketing plans.
- Ensure compliance with contracts including equipment, service, and maintenance
- Enhances the professional growth and development of the Peri-op team
- Demonstrates knowledge in the Lean Management System and drives progress towards achieving High-Reliability performance.
- Service orientation, fosters teamwork and fosters improvements and innovation
- Works within a matrixed organization to ensure longitudinal care of the surgical patient population
Common Expectations:
- Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/service line/entity operation, and which guide and support the provision of the department/service line/entity's services.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Masters Degree Required
Work Experience:
- 3 years Peri-operative experience. Required and
- 3 years Leadership experience in an acute care hospital. Required
Licenses:
- Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
- Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required
