Nurse Specialist - Post Anesthesia Care

Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse (PACU RN)

A skilled PACU Registered Nurse (PACU RN) provides exceptional care to patients recovering from surgical procedures or anesthesia.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough assessments and monitoring of patients' post-anesthesia status, including vital signs, level of consciousness, pain levels, and respiratory function.
• Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, ensuring optimal pain management and patient comfort.
• Closely monitor patients for signs of complications such as respiratory distress, bleeding, infections, and allergic reactions, taking prompt action to address any concerns.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive recovery plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Provide patient education and support regarding post-operative care, wound care, and pain management strategies, empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery.
• Recognize and respond to adverse reactions or complications, escalating care as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, assessments, and outcomes in accordance with PACU standards, promoting transparency and accountability.
• Ensure seamless transitions of care, working closely with healthcare providers to prepare patients for discharge and optimize their transition back to daily life.

Qualifications:

• Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred, but an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is also accepted.
• Licensure: A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice is required.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is also required. Certified Post-Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) certification is preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of acute care or perioperative nursing experience is preferred, with a focus on post-anesthesia care.
