Job Summary: The Public Relations Manager supports the Executive Director of Public Relations and works collaboratively across the organization to help bring Wellstar's mission, vision and values to life through earned, owned and social media. This includes developing and implementing strategic public relations programs that align with the organization's strategic destination and integrates across internal and clinical communications as well as social media. Nurtures relationships with key local, regional, and national media to build trust, drive accuracy, and foster collaboration. Manages and tracks all media relations activities both proactive and reactive in collaboration with the broader External Communications / Public Relations team to ensure on-time responses and positive media outcomes. Proactively monitors media outlets for company, industry and competitive coverage, and provide recommendations on proactive and reactive communications to elevate brand awareness and position. Collaborates with peers and senior leaders across the organization to identify and develop compelling, timely stories that advance the brand. Creates, edits and regularly updates public relations materials, including press kit, news releases and alerts, articles, social posts, plans, and other assets required to communicate with target audiences effectively and with high quality. Coordinates development and execution of media communication plans, including published editorial calendars, proactive pitches/campaigns, media background meetings, location visits, and news announcements. Establishes and leads PR initiatives and outreach that address and engage target influencers and audiences that align with marketing and communications strategy. Works with internal and clinical communications team members to ensure alignment on messaging, news distribution, and timing of activities. Provides oversight for media inquiry channels to ensure timely, strategic, and accurate response management. Identifies, escalates, and helps actively manage and respond to potential and actual crisis situations that could affect the brand and its audiences. Collaborates with the team members and outside counsel to track and report on performance of public relations activity on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, leading analysis and reporting of results to executives. Works with Brand and Communications leadership to develop, roll out, and update messaging platform and narratives to amplify integrated marketing campaign messages. Manages internal SME spokesperson and resource list, including selection criteria, role expectations, interview prep, scheduling and logistics, and measurement of results. Coordinates executive/spokesperson media and speaker training, in collaboration with agencies, Executive Director, and internal resources. Works with Executive Director, agency, and internal resources to define and drive a proactive executive Speakers Bureau. Coordinates with marketing analysts for briefings and inquiries to support marketing and communications strategy. Leads or participates in meetings with internal and external audiences, sharing notes, insights and actions with team to ensure forward momentum, alignment and accountability. Researches, validates, and updates industry and company statistics for use in public relations activities; drives accuracy and consistency across all internal and external communications. Identifies, qualifies, and submits for awards and industry rankings, working with other internal teams (HR, marketing, digital, etc.) including gathering content, researching and vetting statistics/data, completing submissions, notifying/engaging internal stakeholders, and driving relevant external (i.e., social media, news release, Website) and internal promotion. Participates in budget management and oversight for outside agencies, freelancers, vendors and other third parties as needed. Responsible for content for external sites, in collaboration with digital marketing team.
