Responsibilities
As a leader of high visibility and high impact work within the Strategic Growth team, the Manager plays an important role in advancement of Wellstar's organizational growth and diversification strategy. This position
assists the organization as a strategic resource for the development and implementation of strategic plans, provides support in negotiations, valuations, assessments, and other activities required to close transactions
such as acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, joint operating companies, management agreements and other new venture development opportunities. This strategic and transaction support covers acute and nonacute/diversified opportunities across the continuum of care (health plans, physician groups, ambulatory), postacute service providers and non- traditional health care partners.
Strategic analysis:
1. Performs proactive industry and organization specific market research and analyses of
competitor activity. Completes on-going assessments of health care business and
environmental trends that may provide new growth opportunities to the System, regional
and/or local levels.
2. Identifies appropriate data to gather and assists in data collection to support project
initiatives and/or work with other departments.
3. Analyzes available market data and any relevant internal data (inpatient and outpatient) to
assist in generating key business insights. Organizes, coordinates, and assures the quality of
the competitive data, market data, survey data, and related analysis gathered externally or
provided by finance, or other departments.
4. Creates data visualization, i.e., graphs from available data to allow for data dissemination
and review.
5. Synthesizes and communicates complex information into easy to read and follow
spreadsheets, presentations, and other documents that can be used with a broader audience
to influence decision making, to generate business cases, and to build consensus
6. Continually learns and applies key healthcare ecosystem dynamics (e.g., payer, regulatory,
political, consumer, physician group, employer, etc.) and remains savvy on key healthcare
trends that influence internal projects and decisions.
7. Supports the development of System, Market and Service Line strategic plans during the
annual planning process.
8. Supports ad hoc strategic planning projects - from current state assessment to
recommendation/business case development. Assists in data analysis, stakeholder interviews,
gap analysis, to recommendation development. As necessary, provides analysis for projects
and process using supportive flowcharts, diagrams, statistical analysis tools and presents
summaries to support project decisions and direction.
9. Helps prepare presentations (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.) to address key business
questions via effective storytelling.
10. Helps with creation of business plan(s) for any emerging strategic imperatives and engages
leaders and subject matter experts to understand current state. Utilizes research to
determine future state operations. Assesses and compares market opportunity,
competitiveness and readiness through data-driven processes and prioritize markets if
initiative is system-wide.
11. Manages and reviews data, ensuring relevant information is saved and organized effectively
using Teams folders and structures. Provides leadership in developing folder structures to
ensure all relevant information is organized and easy to locate
12. Prepares meeting agendas, meeting minutes and provides other project management support
to keep projects on track and to drive forward results.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
Required Minimum Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in strategy, transactional management (mergers and
acquisitions), Health systems, payer, management consulting, valuation
firm, investment banking, private equity, venture capital in a team or
project management capacity Required OR
a comparable combination of education and experience.

with a broad spectrum of business executives and other key stakeholders. Strong presentation &
negotiating skills. Experience presenting to board and C-suite executives.
4. Demonstrated success in developing market intelligence, market share and environmental trends
reports. Experience developing strategic plans preferred.
5. Expert in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
6. Must be a motivated, goal-oriented self-starter that takes initiative to ask questions and escalate
items where additional support or education is needed to achieve the work.
7. Demonstrated ability to gain and maintain credibility and trust with key stakeholders.
8. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills in order to influence results and
manage relationships and influences within and outside the organization. Ability to read the subtle
nuances of situations and plan/react accordingly.
