Description :
The RN Clinical Nurse in Critical Care is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive high-quality and safe patient care.
The nurse practices in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders.
The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research.
RN competencies are supported by professional values and practice standards.
It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses in Critical Care are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by relevant nursing practice acts.
As a team member, it is essential to uphold the voice of the patient and support system policies and service excellence goals.
Perform the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in clinical care using evidence-based practice, analytical / critical thinking, and individualized care.
Coordinate care through effective partnerships, recognizing that caring is central for optimal patient outcomes.
Provide relationship-based patient-centered care adapts service delivery considering cultural diversity.
Partner with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for the setting and purpose, ensuring the patients' goals are the focus of the plan of care.
Practice using current clinical practice standards.
Coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that aligns with professional care delivery models.
Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by promoting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
Participate in performance improvement involving all stakeholders.
Promote safe, quality patient care, initiate or lead improvement activities, and support shared governance.
Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory and population-specific education.
Serve as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce; model the professional practice of nursing and create a healthy work environment.
Promote Evidence-Based Practice, nursing research, and performance improvement and engage in decision-making processes in evaluating patient care products.
Uphold health care system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies.
Participate in data collection and pose relevant clinical questions to advance evidence-based practice.
Consult appropriate experts and use resources and evidence to address practice questions.
Proactively plan care for patients across the care continuum and participate in the development of protocols and procedures in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members to achieve best practice outcomes.
Support efficient and effective use of human and materials resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Comply with all system policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Education : Diploma from an accredited nursing program is required. A baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Skills : Ability to optimize technology to support clinical care, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, basic computer skills, excellent time management and critical thinking skills, and ability to respond to emergencies decisively.
