What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Aide position at Wellstone?
Job Description: Behavioral Health Aides care for clients in the group home setting of our Acute Care Services locations. Goals of this position are to work help with reintegration, teach living skills, partner with therapeutic team and ensure treatment care plan is followed. Our BHAs will learn proper documentation techniques and other state/federal standards followed by the Department of Mental Health, earn certifications in their trainings and create a path forward with a career in mental health.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide consistent instruction, guidance, encouragement and reinforcement to the clients that are committed to the Crisis Stabilization Unit and/or WellStar.
- Regularly implement basic living skills training objectives and documents residents progress in a timely manner in the Electronic Health Record.
- Help to coordinate activities, conduct group therapy, document clients progress, maintain electronic documentation in timely manner
- Work closely with Treatment Team.
- Regularly complete documentation of staff notes, incident reports, injury reports, shift observations, and other reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- May be required to lift approximately 50 lbs.
- Ensure clients comply with rules, maintain a clean and safe environment to include performance of housekeeping, assist clients where necessary.
- Demonstrate good safety skills including fire drills, emergency procedures and back safety techniques.
- Promote a positive work environment, including positive relationships with supervisors, clients and their families and/or co-workers.
- Administration of medication was supervised and documented.
- Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings, trainings as required and remains current on all trainings/certifications.
- Work as schedules, correctly completes and submits timesheets, leave requests in a timely manner.
- Report any facility or maintenance issues in a timely fashion and assist in the maintenance/housekeeping of the facility, and equipment.
- Perform verbal and at times physical de-escalation techniques as required, in addition to crisis interventions.
- Report to work on time, willing to remain on shift if unable to be relieved, coordinate coverage with other Behavioral Health Aides for dates unable to report to work, either annual or sick leave requests.
- May have to be escort/guardian for clients who are sent to the Hospital for evaluation.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

- Familiar with Computer/Microsoft Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Certified in (or ability to obtain) CPR and CPI
