Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Director of Staff Development Coordinator (DSD) with an additional focus as an Infection Control Preventionist to join our team at a renowned nursing home facility in Winchester, Nevada. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to lead staff training programs and ensure infection control protocols are effectively implemented, maintaining a safe and compliant environment for residents and staff.
As the Director of Staff Development, you will play a vital role in shaping and overseeing the facility's staff training programs, promoting growth, and ensuring high standards are met across all levels of operation. The Infection Control Preventionist aspect of this role will involve developing and managing infection prevention and control programs, ensuring the health and safety of everyone in the facility.
Key Responsibilities:Training and Staff Development:
- Identify training and development needs for staff at all levels, and design comprehensive programs to address these needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of training programs, including internal and external courses, conferences, and online learning resources.
- Coordinate and conduct in-service training for staff, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
- Create customized individual or group training sessions as needed.
- Collaborate with supervisors to address and fulfill specific training needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records, ensuring all documentation complies with state, federal, and local regulations.
Infection Control and Prevention:
- Develop and implement an ongoing Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) to minimize the risk of infection.
- Review and update the IPCP annually or as necessary based on emerging guidelines and regulatory changes.
- Provide guidance to staff on infection control best practices, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Monitor infection control practices across the facility and provide support where necessary.
Leadership and Mentorship:
- Serve as a role model and mentor to staff, promoting the organization's values and culture.
- Guide the training department’s staff in performing functions such as recruitment, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Assist in preparing operational plans and contribute to overall facility goals.
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing program.
- Primary professional training in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, epidemiology, or related fields.
- Specialized training or certification in infection prevention and control.
Licensure:
- Required: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Required: BLS Certification.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree.
