EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under the direction of interim director of fiscal services, manage, plan and perform assigned accounting functions to support the college's academic and ancillary programs.Assume responsibilities and duties of the fiscal services director during their absence, providing oversight of fiscal operations.Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures and training to produce results that meet audit requirements.Closely coordinate financial matters concerning the reporting, and preparation, of the District’s financial statements.Ensure adherence to all state, federal, and institutional financial regulations and policies, and review/assist in implementing necessary changes.Serve as the district’s audit liaison for internal/external audits.Coordinate site visits with appropriate staff, monitors audit process and potential audit issues, prepares audit reports for review and works with departments to develop and implement corrective action.Regularly update the director of fiscal services and vice president for administrative services regarding internal audits.Reconcile State and Federal Work-Study, ensuring work authorizations are entered correctly.Address various complex accounting issues and provide customer service and training to WVC employees and students.Respond to inquiries from faculty, staff, and students regarding financial matters and providing guidance on financial policies and procedures.Manage purchasing staff and activities for the WVC District.Provide leadership, direction, training, and guidance on procurement policy, procurement acquisitions, property tracking, and surplus activities to enhance college effectiveness and compliance.Act as a resource to departments on campus for project planning, development of procurement timelines, and review of department specifications and requirements.Review purchase requests and coordinates purchasing activities.Resolve vendor performance problems.Evaluate products and equipment to ensure quality and usefulness.Develop changes to WVC’s procurement policies and procedures relating to purchasing.Provide training to WVC staff to ensure compliance with State purchasing laws, statewide administrative and accounting manual (SAAM) policies and WA State ethics laws (RCW 42.52).Update Capital Asset Management System and ensures inventory and related depreciation are recorded properly.Coordinate physical inventory counts for the college.Perform month-end and year-end close accounting processes.Prepare, review and create journal entries as needed.Coach and mentor accounting personnel in daily, monthly and annual accounting tasks using experience and knowledge in accounting by following established procedures and policies.Maintain files and supporting documentation for all areas of responsibility in compliance with audit requirements.Maintain positive working relationships with college departments and staff, State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, local and federal agencies, vendors and the public.Serve on college committees.This is not intended to be an exclusive list of all duties and responsibilities. Terms of Employment: This is a full-time (overtime-eligible or not depending on salary) exempt position contracted on an annual basis. The starting annual salary hiring range for this position is $76,000 to $86,980. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. The annual salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the remainder of the fiscal year.Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package.
