The director of financial aid serves as the college’s chief administrator for the delivery of student financial aid services. This position provides leadership, management and strategic direction for student financial aid programs, directs delivery of financial aid services to students, and ensures compliance with federal, state and college rules and regulations. The director is responsible for ensuring the financial aid process is student focused and that all students receive high quality and comprehensive financial aid services. The director provides leadership and management to the financial aid office staff. This position reports to the dean of strategic enrollment & student success and works collaboratively with other members within student services and departments’ campus wide.

Department Leadership and Supervision: Provide culturally responsive leadership in promoting equitable access and successful educational outcomes for historically minoritized and under-served students. Foster an environment of integrity, teamwork and collaboration within the financial aid office and across departments campus wide. Hire, supervise and evaluate performance. Ensure that all financial aid staff are trained and kept current in accordance with state and federal guidelines. Serve as resource to assist staff with complex situations and questions, providing daily guidance. Exercise professional judgment in making financial aid decisions with supporting documentation, in order to promote student success and access. Mitigate and resolve student concerns and appeals as they pertain to financial aid. Foster a commitment to excellent student-centered service.Maintain an office environment that is welcoming and friendly to students, one which promotes discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Ensure the college administration is kept appraised of impending legislation and/or other matters affecting the college and programs/services offered as they pertain to state and federal funding. Provide leadership in the use of financial aid related software, including annual setup and automation of various tasks and processes; implementing and maintaining other systems to improve financial aid processes and service to students.Fund Management: Administration (award and reconciliation) and budget authority for financial aid budgets including but not limited to: Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG), Work Study, WAFSA, Washington College Grant, Scholarships, College Bound, Institutional Fund, Veterans Educational Benefits, etc. Develop policies, guidelines, and procedures that ensure regulatory compliance and are consistent with institutional goals and responsive to student needs. Develop and manage the financial aid office operational budget. Supervise the needs analysis, verification, calculation, awarding and packaging of all student financial aid. In collaboration with the fiscal services office, establish timelines to assure aid awards are packaged and disbursed in a timely manner. Serve as the liaison between financial aid and the fiscal services office, collaborating on account management, billings, disbursement, reconciliation, reports, and related matters. Maintain working relationship with the WVC Foundation in awarding of institutional scholarships. Establish awarding targets based on federal, state and local financial aid allocations. Ensure satisfactory academic progress and other student eligibility requirements are monitored. Manage the Loan program, ensuring that the program is administered according to federal regulations and guarantor policies and that each student borrower receives financial aid and debt management counseling. Review and update financial aid consumer information, student budgets, student forms on a yearly basis and ensure the web pages are current.Technology and Compliance Reporting: Annually prepare or oversee the submission of documentation, as needed, to support required reporting to the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, Washington Student Achievement Council, and others as required for participation in federal and state financial aid programs. Reports included but are not limited to: Fiscal Operations/Application Report annually, Unit Record Reports, WA College Grant, College Bound Scholarship, Federal Aid E-Application, and state work study monthly cash requests. Responsible for the management and retention of all financial records and student financial aid files. Collaborate with campus community to provide required consumer information to the public. Integrate all available technology to streamline services and improve accuracy. Provide technical expertise to install and maintain institutional information into the financial aid software system to ensure that student aid is delivered in an accurate and timely manner. Compile statistics regarding student aid programs.Campus Involvement and Community Service: Organize and conduct and/or delegate workshops and other informational activities for new student orientations, college fairs, high schools, and service organizations when information on financial aid is requested. Participate in professional development organizations at the local, state and regional levels as a representative of Wenatchee Valley College.Develop and maintain relationships with local organizations contracted to provided financial aid workshops, informational sessions, etc. at high schools or in the community. Develop and maintain relationships with off campus work study employers to ensure community service and literacy positions requirements are met. Serve on the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT). Prepare and present reports to the board of trustees and other college entities, as necessary. Terms of Employment: This is a full-time administrative exempt position contracted on an annual basis. The starting salary hiring range for this position is $80,000 to $91,000. Individual placement within the hiring range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual number of contract days worked in the remainder of the fiscal year.Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package.
