Job Summary
Under general direction, using financial aid rules, departmental procedures, knowledge and experience; coordinate and administer the processing of federal student loans, financial aid applications, verification of financial aid applications, revision requests, and departmental requisition requests. Use independent judgement in interpreting and applying "professional judgment" to special circumstances of student and parent income situations and student loans. Independently advises students, staff and the general public regarding financial aid, student loans, revision request, and general financial aid procedures. Recommend alternative course of action for students that are denied aid. Project, monitor, maintain, initiate and / or approve financial aid and student loan funds. Coordinate with the business office to reconcile loan funds. Work with registration office to review and monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress for students. required to maintain confidentiality of student files and records.
Essential Functions
- Process student loan applications, responsible to certify enrollment, monitoring enrollment statuses, determine eligible loan amounts, initiate return of loan funds and reconcile loan funds. Required to coordinate with the business office to assure information is shared regarding loan disbursements and return of funds. Coordinate and interact with direct loan servicer to track loans and resolve discrepancies. Assist students with the loan process. Process loan request, verify and or administer required Entrance and Exit loan counseling and assure the accuracy of loan information made available to the general public. Responsible for importing electronic loan data and uploads to the financial aid system. Calculate applicable loan fees and assure accuracy in reporting of loan amounts.
- Evaluate incoming student financial aid applications and determine if they can be given funds. Award (Package) students their financial aid eligibility. Enter tracking items to notify students if not eligible for financial aid.
- Responsible to process and determine eligibility for private student loans according to private lender's policies and regulations. Coordinate delivery of funds to students and ensure that all college fees are paid before disbursement of funds to students. Required to work closely with lenders in the awarding, tracking and enrollment verification of student borrowers.
- Process requisitions within the financial aid office. Responsible to make sure that request is appropriate and have all required signatures. Also, responsible for ordering financial aid publications from the Department of Education and student loan lending partners.
- Verification of financial aid application information. Includes review of tax documents, written statements by students and parents and verification of other agency funding that the family may receive.
- Review citizenship documentation, update tracking and override the system to allow packaging.
- Review name change documents and update the system to match.
- Data entry of updates and information for tracking and running tracking letters to send to students.
- Ensure that accurate information regarding federal rules and regulations pertaining to the application process for financial aid and student loans are provided to students and the general public.
- Facilitate financial aid workshops to the general public.
- Assist with front desk services and answer main phone line.

The current vacancy in financial aid is a full-time overtime and benefit eligible position expected to begin as soon as possible.
The starting salary for this position is $49,116 with periodic increases and earning potential to $58,380. The list established by this recruitment will be active for a minimum of three months and be used to fill this position only.
