What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Child Care Leader position at Wenatchee Valley YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides supervision to children while providing a quality experience. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers.
The licensed school age child care programs are operated within the Eastmont, Wenatchee, and Cascade School District Facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervise children within established standards and policies.
Greet children and parents/guardians as they enter the area. Encourage positive relationships by facilitating conversations between participants.
Provide positive behavior management to promote developmental asset building.
Maintains clean, attractive, safe and functional facilities that meet or exceed Health Codes and Y standards.
Models relationship-building skills and encourages leadership by example in all interactions utilizing the Y’s core character values.
Implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with Y’s values.
Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement, belonging and relationships among youth and within families.
Maintain positive public relations and always represent the best interest of the Y.
Responds to emergency situations.
OTHER POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Work as a team with other staff supervising area.
Attend appropriate Y trainings, meetings and events. Complete on line child abuse training on first day.
Perform routine cleaning and inspect games and equipment report and assist in needed repairs.
Document all accidents and incidents per established guidelines.
Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents/guardians.
Monitors programs and events to adhere to all Y health and safety standards and policies.
Reviews, practices and make recommendations to improve safety procedures and practices.
Makes ongoing, systematic observations of programs to evaluate compliance with Y standards, the code of conduct and child abuse prevention standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
