POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Responsible for delivery of excellent service to Y members, program participants and the public. The Extreme Teens Summer Program Camp Leader provides direct supervision and leadership to groups of teen age children in variety of indoor and outdoor venues in Chelan and Douglas Counties. Provides a quality experience to teens and parents focusing on the Y’s core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Implement program activities for groups of up to 20 teens that are developmentally appropriate and consistent with the Y values.
2. Preparing for day trips by loading and unloading of equipment to and from bus, as scheduled.
3. Create and maintain a positive atmosphere using positive behavior management and encouraging leadership by example utilizing the four character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
4. Ability to think, process, and adapt to changes in activities or situations quickly. Respond to behavioral issues and emergency situations quickly in rough terrain or multi story building.
5. Maintain clean, attractive, safe, functional facilities that meet or exceed Health Codes and Y standards.
6. Review, practice, follow and make recommendations to improve safety procedures and practices at the Y.
7. Participation in hiking and rafting activities.
OTHER POSITION FUNCTIONS:
1. Build and maintain positive relations with parents, members and other staff.
2. Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
3. Assist teens to be self-reliant and to relate with others.
4. Review, practice, follow and make recommendations to improve safety procedures and practices at Wenatchee Valley YMCA.
5. Maintain accurate records such as: medical forms, accident/incident reports, and vehicle check and mileage reports.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
