We work a "9/80" schedule-- 9 hours a day / 80 hours every 2 weeks; we are closed every other Friday
Automotive Painter
The purpose of this position is to paint and prep mobile containers in a manufacturing shop for the defense industry. We are a small/mid-size company and offer competitive pay and benefits, including medical and matching 401(k) (among others), and a positive learning culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Painting and preparing items; including grinding, sanding, masking, priming, acid washing and spraying, including CARC (chemical agent resistant coating) finishes
- Achieve high quality finishes using pneumatic paint gun
- Share industry knowledge and techniques regarding proper use of tools and equipment and expertise for improving quality and/or speed of production
- Encourage other team members’ efforts and maintain a supportive attitude among colleagues
- Follow instructions on work order documentation and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with quality objectives
- Work with support using mechanical drawings
- Work to achieve product consistency
- Maintain product, equipment, tooling, work area, and general facility cleanliness
- Dependable / reliable; show-up on-time
- Comply with all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements as applicable
- Demonstrate safe behavior
- Perform other various duties as assigned
Desired qualifications:
- 2-4 years' experience applying CARC finishes
- Able to speak, read, and write English
- Bi-lingual Spanish / English preferred (not required)
- Experience with automotive painting
- Basic reading and writing ability
- Ability to use a tape measure
- Problem solving skills
- Organizational skills
- Process-oriented disposition and mentality (a commitment to following procedures, instructions, and rules)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to understand direction regarding daily objectives and goals
- Able to read and interpret documents such as design drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; able to write routine reports and correspondence
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends before and after schedule as needed
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred (preferred/not required)
Physical Demands:
- Sitting, standing, speaking, listening, walking (including stairs), lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, ascend, descend, work atop, traverse, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, crouching, crawling, close spaces, color determination, near acuity, exposed (outdoor weather conditions)
