Job Summary: The Financial Analyst is responsible for acting as a business partner to all Company department leaders and participating in forward looking aspects of financial planning and information for the Company. This includes preparing monthly reports and analysis for overhead expense and assisting with annual budgets, weekly analysis reports and month end reports. Also involved with Operations, inventory and special projects to assist the General Manager and Controller.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares monthly departmental financial reports with variance analysis.
- Meets monthly (at a minimum) with department leaders to discuss budget performance and upcoming costs.
- Participates in the annual budget after gathering input from Sales, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Finance. In addition, if there becomes a need for interim budgets such as a 6 6 the Financial Analyst will assist as needed for preparing this document.
- Prepares weekly analysis of Revenue progress and disseminates the findings.
- Runs month end and year-end reports and utilities.
- Reviews production variances weekly and works with Operations to understand and correct errors.
- Performs a variety of tasks to assist the General Manger and Controller in planning, reporting, and month-end processes.
- Works with dashboard reporting toolset.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Highly proficient in the use of Excel (creating complex spreadsheets, VLookups, Pivot Tables, create charts & graphs, etc..)
- General knowledge of Word and Outlook
- Capable of analyzing large quantities of data and extracting key characteristics that identify trends, strengths or weaknesses in financial data
- Able to communicate effectively and work well within Finance and non-Finance groups.
- Able to maintain confidential information
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of three years of hands-on financial analysis experience
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Manufacturing Accounting/Finance experience
- ERP experience – preferably Syteline or SAP
Special Position Requirements:
- On occasion may require late hours or weekend work for month end, quarter end or year-end closing
- PPE required when in certain areas of the manufacturing plant (i.e., safety glasses, earplugs, etc.)
Physical Demands/Equipment Used to Perform the Job:
- Office job – prolonged periods of sitting
- Ability to use computer key board, view computer monitors and 10-key on a calculator
- Ability to climb stairs for meetings in second floor conference room with no elevator access
- Must be able to walk around plant facility and production areas
