Essential Functions:
1. Conduct and plan daily activities, special events, and themed meals by looking up information, making contacts and providing the necessary equipment and items needed to participate in the activity.
2. Coordinate and supervise the daily activities in the Residential Services Department.
3. Plan and implement programs to outside sources inviting them to visit facility and provide entertainment.
4. Provide opportunities for pleasurable external outings based on the needs and abilities of the residents including off-campus and overnight trips.
5. Maintain activity rooms in a clean, neat, orderly, attractive and stimulating environment as well as ensuring that all items are stored appropriately when not in use.
6. Maintain adequate supplies, within budget, for a wide variety of activities.
7. Gathering materials through research, planning books and other sources for resident activities. In addition, responsible for researching activity/recreational programs available at other CCRCs and areas at which prospects are drawn from.
8. Scheduling events based on the different age groups and different abilities/limitations of the group including off-campus and overnight trips.
9. Responsible for planning, preparing and maintaining fiscal year budget for the Resident Service Department.
10.Publish copy and distribute weekly newsletter to inform residents of upcoming events.
11.Responsible for planning and executing all themed parties including parties in conjunction with culinary and events involving different departments. Schedule regularly themed meals in collaboration with culinary.
12. Plan, schedule, and coordinate outdoor games such as but not limited to shuffle board and pickle ball.
13.Plan, schedule, and coordinate parties around not only holidays/celebrations, but basketball, football, and soccer games/seasons.
14.Work collaboratively with the Wellness Manager on recreational activities for residents’ physical wellbeing.
15.Lead activities in a professional manner by assisting residents when necessary and handling emotions and inabilities with residents and their families.
16. Prepare monthly activity calendar to be distributed to residents.
17.Attend in-services both on campus and off campus, if applicable, dealing with dementia and/or any other job-related seminars.
18. Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Design and promote a stimulating atmosphere and programs.
- Provide comfort to patients that become disoriented or confused and provide emotional support to residents.
- Assist, as needed, with transportation to and from activities.
- Special assignments as requested.
- Maintain CPR certification.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to handle the different emotions associated with resident and their families.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within a facility.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
- Must be able to deal with confidential information of residents such as diagnosis and medical histories.
- Must have a valid SC Driver’s license.
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move during working hours.
Must have extensive computer skills. Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Two years’ experience in a social, recreational, or event planning program with a senior population or a two-year degree with an emphasis in event planning.
- Must have a valid SC drivers’ license and CPR certification. Per insurance standards, all drivers must be a minimum of 25 years of age and a maximum of 70 years of age.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Must be highly motivated, energetic and flexible.
- Must have the ability to be creative in order to plan, develop, implement, interpret and execution of activities and events.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to meet assigned deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.
- Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous and prompt customer service.
- Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members.
