Position Summary
The Food Services Attendant assists in the portioning, assembling and or serving of meals for residents, following established procedures under the direct supervision of the Food Services Manager or appointed supervisor. Assist with the cleaning of the kitchen and food service areas to include utility equipment and dishwashing after meals are served.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcomes – Greets patrons and customers as they arrive.
- Escorts - Guides guests to their seats.
- Engages – Provides guests with menus, suggests menu items and daily specials. Takes customers’ orders. Offers additional items such as desserts.
- Communicates – Relays customer orders to the kitchen staff and ensures accuracy of orders.
- Serves – Serves welcome beverages, food, and refills of drinks. May be required to serve food from the steam table, provide table service or pass out food trays.
- Delivers – Ensures food is delivered to the customers’ table in a timely manner. Ensures order meets customers satisfaction.
- Sanitizes – Cleans tables and dining area to include counters, floors, and vicinity.
- Arranges – Prepares tables for new guests by laying tablecloths, providing new dishes and cutlery.
- Inventories – Maintains appropriate levels of stock for the dining area. May assist with ordering food supplies and/or stocking of new inventory.
- Collects - Provide customers with checks and collect payments. Will thank customers for their patronage.
- Coordinates - May be required to prepare for special functions by setting up dining area.
- Performs – Additional responsibilities assigned as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in serving food preferred.
- Experience working in a dining department for healthcare, long term care, assisted living facility and/or institutional food service.
- Ability to read (English) and interpret menus and diet sheets.
- Ability to lift up to fifty pounds; to bend, stoop and twist. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
