Job Title: Direct Support Specialist ID
Job Summary: West Bay RI is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Specialist to provide support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) in their homes and community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Assistance: Assist individuals with IDD in their daily lives, including personal care, household chores, health maintenance, and relationship facilitation.
- Encourage Independence: Encourage individuals to make their own decisions and take ownership of their lives, promoting independence and natural support.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate respectfully and consistently with individuals, families, and community associations to develop and maintain quality-based relationships.
- Monitor and Report: Objectively monitor and report on individuals' status, including implementing care plans and goals, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Maintain a Positive Environment: Model and maintain a positive, supportive, and productive team environment in multiple settings.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Direct Support Professional or Milieu Therapist
- Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver's License with a good driving background, CPR/AED/1st Aid certification, Safety Care training, Human Rights, and HIPAA compliance
