WEST BOYLSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Nestled on the shores of the Wachusett Reservoir and located just north
of Worcester Massachusetts, West Boylston is a charming New England
town that offers the best features of small-town life with easy access to
the high quality cultural assets and employment opportunities offered in
Massachusetts. The town offers a beautiful natural setting with many
recreational activities and protected open space. West Boylston residents
cherish the town’s historic roots and are proud of the excellent, high-
ranking school system that offers a personalized education.
West Boylston was incorporated in 1808 and has a total land area of 12.9
miles. Due to the importance of the Wachusett Reservoir (2nd largest body
of water in Massachusetts), a significant portion of the town has been
preserved as open space for water quality protection. As of the census of
2010, there were 7,669 people in 2,091 households residing in the town.
THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
The West Boylston School District is a Pre-K through Grade 12 high performing
school system with an enrollment of approximately 910 students. With most of its
graduates matriculating to two and four year colleges, West Boylston’s curriculum is
focused on college preparatory course work and includes many A.P. courses. West
Boylston has also developed effective special education programs at all levels and
meets the needs of most students with IEP’s in the regular school environment.

QUALAFICATIONS
The West Boylston School Committee seeks a dynamic, energetic individual
to assume the leadership of this small, highly successful district.
The following qualifications are required:
Current License as a Superintendent of Schools in Massachusetts
Master’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
Minimum of ten years in education including central office and/or
school leadership experience and 3-5 years teaching experience
Effective public relations and financial management skill
Experienced in instructional and curriculum leadership
Employs strategic planning processes aligned with the District’s
mission, vision and philosophy.
Demonstrates sound management expertise in planning, organizing
and implementing initiatives.
Familiar with facility planning and building maintenance.
Successful in inspiring, improving, and maintaining high academic
standards for students, teachers and administrators.
Successful in promoting a cooperative working relationship with town
officials and departments, including a positive communications/public
relations program, informing the community of the activities and
needs of the school district.
Understands special education regulations and has skills to work with
staff and parents to provide appropriate services.
Experience in implementing 21st century skills including integrating
technology into the delivery of instruction to students.
Demonstrates expertise in budget and fiscal management, superior
communication and organizational skills, and strong work ethic.
CONTRACT & COMPENSATION
The West Boylston School Committee will offer a multi-year contract with a competitive
benefit package and a salary range of $150,000 - $180,000 based upon qualifications
and experience.
